Loopback cotton, and it is allowed to look like loopback cotton. The face is even without being flattened, and the loops are still legible on the inside where most makers would brush them into something softer and less itself.
This is where the pair earns its place. Cotton of this build gives at the knee and the seat and then stops giving, so the shape it takes is yours rather than a shape it was losing all along. The waistband holds after washing, which is the single most common failure in this garment and the one most makers accept.
No. The taper does the work that a drawstring, a logo and a contrast panel would otherwise be asked to do. There is nothing here to remove, which is rarer in sweatpants than in almost any other garment.
No one has answered yet. Yours will be the first.
Where we disagree. This is where our reading and the room's will sit side by side once answers come in. Disagreement is the point. If everyone simply agrees with us, this page is doing nothing that a caption could not.
Sweatpants are the easiest garment to make badly and the hardest to make well, because there is nowhere to hide. No structure, no lining, no tailoring to carry a mistake. There is cloth, a waistband, and the shape the leg takes. That is the whole argument.
What everdion has got right is the fit, and specifically the taper. A tapered leg is usually a styling decision applied to a shape that did not ask for it, which is why most tapered sweatpants pull at the calf and bag at the thigh. This pair narrows where the leg already narrows. Standing still it reads as a clean line. Sitting down it does not fight you, which is the actual test and the one nobody photographs.
The quality shows in the parts you only meet later. The waistband still holds after washing rather than surrendering into that slack ring that ends most sweatpants inside a year. The seams sit flat against the leg instead of rolling. These are unglamorous things to praise and they are exactly what separates a garment you keep from one you replace.
Worn in, this will get better rather than worse, which is the highest thing we can say about anything made. Nothing here is performing. It is just built properly, and then left alone.
Answer the same three questions. You will see the room only after you do.
Design prototype. The photograph is a placeholder and no answers are stored yet. Fabric weight and construction details still need confirming.
